Points of View

Points of View

To further develop my project, I wanted to get into researching more about the condition and  sketch out more ideas. I think that facts and statistics are a great way of making an impactful point and to grab someone's interest so I wanted to look at a few of those too.

After a talk by artist Beth Suzanna, I got inspired to try out paper collage. I loved working with the bright shades and the blocks of colour gave a great simplistic look which I think is reminiscent of my usual work. I definitely want to develop this way of working and to explore it further.

To start thinking about my three points of view, I wanted to look directly to other peoples experiences of vaginismus. I want to have my three points of view as being three characters who would be telling their story and journey to the viewer. To get a wider perspective, I created a short questionnaire which I contacted people to be able to take part in. Some of the responses to the questions are below.

From these answers, I started to sketch out ideas for character design. I want to be able to represent different people, such as various ages, within this so that as many people as possible can see themselves reflected in my work.
