Non Binary People Do Not Owe You Androgyny

This project is about dispelling the myth that non binary means having a certain look or being androgynous. Chatting with model Jordan Underwood about their opinions and experiences, they gave me a better informed angle on the subject.

 I started out with sketches of Jordan and experiments with composition and using the colours of the non binary flag.

Using watercolour and paint pens for the painting, I wanted to create a contrast of texture and block colour for the background.

For this piece of work I wanted to create something that was inclusive and hopefully relatable for non binary people. I wanted it to be a powerful piece which would inform others and to empower non binary people when they look at it.
